SOILDERS HILL was a dominant winner at a big price on Friday at Geelong, running away by three lengths to take out his maiden win at his first look on the synthetic surface.

Seemingly relishing the change, the horse was up in trip sharply to 2100m after some disappointing efforts over the short course. Ridden by Patrick Maloney who has now ridden a few winners for the stable, he settled at the tail end of the field and charged home out wide.

A four-year-old son of Soldier’s Tale, Soldiers Hill was a $30,000 acquisition from the 2011 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

With such a dominant victory at his first look on the synthetic surface and over a staying trip it would seem he has a bright future in races that fill the bill.

Congratulations to the winning connections: Mr B D Besanko, Mr W G Clifford, Mr E Sakareassen, Mrs W J Gilbert, Mr D Zavitsanos, Mr A J Tuckwell, Mr W Smart, Mr W M Goodall, Mr K J Goodall, Mr S Hahn
