Ray Besanko

You could say Ray has a racing pedigree and is fulfilling a tradition. With his Father Jack and Grandfather also Jack both successful trainers in there own right – there was little doubt from childhood what Ray’s profession would be.

Having spent a lifetime in the game, there are few wiser than Ray Besanko whose trained eye for the thoroughbred reflects years of early morning trackwork, racetrack successes and yearling purchases.

With his outright training career starting out in 1973, whilst the basics haven’t changed – the methods have. The introduction of walkers, treadmills and pools has greatly assisted Ray in achieving racetrack success, as has the first-rate Cranbourne Training Complex which is described as one of the best Australia wide.

The stable is based at Pearcedale which is on the outskirts of Melbourne and offers a country training environment close to the great amenities the training complexs offer. Our horses work out of the state-of-the-art Cranbourne Training Complex which is a one-stop-shop for horses and is one of the biggest centres in Australia. With a large variety of options ranging from pools – sandrolls – large selection of tracks, this facility gives our horses every chance to suceed on the racetrack.

Once they have completed there work, it’s only a short trip home to our 2 year old property at Pearcedale which provides a safe and clean enviroment for horses. It also has day paddocks with posted rails right throughout the property and the horses thrive being in there natural environment.

Owners can be assured to get an honest appraisal and an investment based on integrity. Together with “planning, hard work and the odd good horse” Ray says there is no job more satisfying.

Behind every good trainer, is a solid team of hands-on and experienced horseman. Ray is greatful for his entire staff including daughter Kasey, the stables assistant trainer who has been working under her father for six years learning the craft.
