IT was great to see Stiletto Rock back in the winners stall for her connections at Cranbourne on Wednesday, recording her second career win in tenacious fashion.
Third up from a spell, the win in the $30,000 Cranbourne Holden 0-64 Handicap (1200m) came as a good result for her connections who look to have a talented horse on there hands. Scoring her maiden win in exciting fashion at Sale in early February, she followed up the performance with two seconds at Cranbourne. With her first two runs back from a spell showing the desired result was near, it was thrilling to watch her fight out a blanket finish to collect the showcase win.
Ridden by Peter Mertens, Stiletto Rock was ridden back from the inside alley and railed through in the straight to hold off a wall of horses which included place getters Bachelor Knight and Rich Jack.
It was great to see this well-bred four-year-old daughter of Fastnet Rock find the winners stall and hopefully there are many more wins to be enjoyed. Wednesday’s win took earnings just shy of $40,000 from 12 starts.
