FORMER King Island galloper Juan Tuffamigo registered his first Victorian win at Cranbourne on Saturday taking out the $15,000 Dandenong Southern Stingrays 0-58 Handicap (1400m).

A seven time winner in the northern states, in his fifth Victorian start Juan Tuffamigo appears to be starting to hit his straps with solid close-up efforts at Seymour and Geelong previously.

Back to the 1400m, apprentice Patrick Maloney rated the horse well settling midfield from a wide alley and giving him room in the straight to live up to favorite expectations.

Having ran over the King Island carnival period for the past three years from November-January the six-year-old son of Tough Speed has managed to rack up seven races

Saturday’s win took Juan Tuffamigo’s career earnings to over $23,000.

Congratulations to the winning connections: Mrs N M Russell, Mr R N Russell, Mr R J Keys, Mr B Hyland, Miss H M Hutchins, Mr J C Cleeland
