She Daresthe Devil has proven too good for her opposition, with victory in the 1000m Maiden at Bairnsdale, today.
A heavy track saw the initial field of nine entrants, reduced to five with Jukebox Lucy expected, sent out the odds-on favourite after a promising debut saw here finish a close-up second at Moe.
She Daresthe Devil was on the second line after an encouraging first up effort at her start prior, finishing just behind the place-getters at Geelong.
As the field jumped away – Jukebox Lucy was keen to lead and with another rival on his immediate outside, jockey Ted Nugent decided to pull back from the early speed and into a lovely trailing position.
Held together at the top of the straight – She Daresthe Devil responded well when asked for her effort and started to eat into the length and a half margin the leader and favourite had.
Working through her gears in good style, the daughter of Puissance De Lune really hit her straps at the 100m mark, hitting the line and pulling away from her rivals before being able to coast through the line with a length and a quarter to spare over her closest rival, Fighting Sunami.
It’s a promising start to the filly’s career with this victory adding to her two previous placings, from just the four starts.
